Prenatal and New Parent
The Health Unit, in partnership with Prince Edward Child Care Services, offers a program called Healthy Beginnings, consisting of three weekly classes or a one day workshop. The classes cover healthy pregnancy, breastfeeding and preparation for parenthood. To register call Child Health CARELine at 613-966-5513, ext. 223, Monday-Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. You can also register on-line at www.hpechu.on.ca. The Family Health Team, in partnership with Prince Edward Child Care Services, offers labour and delivery classes throughout the year. To register contact Peggy Neil 613-476-0400, ext. 238. Baby Club is intended for parents with infants up to 18 months. Older siblings are welcome. Baby Club is an excellent opportunity for you to share experiences and ideas with other parents. Information is available on a variety of topics. An experienced nurse from the Family Health Team is available during Bably Club on the 2nd, 4th & 5th week (if applicable) each month to answer questions about child health and development and support growth and development concerns. A peer support group is offered for breastfeeding moms to get together and share advice and stories. An Early Learning Facilitator is available to provide information and answer questions. Car Seat Inspections are performed by trained Ontario Early Years staff members. Appointments can be booked for the last Tuesday of each month. Parents are encouraged to bring their child with them. If this is not possible, please know your child’s weight and height and have your vehicle and car seat manuals with you. Ask one of our Early Learning Facilitators about new parent packages.
