Prenatal and New Parent

Since babies don’t come with instructions, the Ontario Early Years and Family Resource Centres offer programs and services to help prepare and support you in your new role as parent!

Journey to Parenthood is offered throughout the year at our Ontario Early Years Centre in partnership with the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit and Family Health Team. To register, call the Family Health Team at 613-476-0400, ext. 207 or the Child Health Care Line at 613-966-5513, ext. 223.

Baby Club is intended for parents with infants up to 18 months. Older siblings are welcome. Baby Club is an excellent opportunity for you to share experiences and ideas with other parents. Information is available on a variety of topics. A Child Health Clinic is offered by a public health nurse twice a month to answer questions about child health and development.

Pat’s Partners in Breastfeeding, which operates twice a month, is a peer support group for breastfeeding moms who get together to share advice and stories. An Early Learning Facilitator is available to provide information and answer questions.

Car Seat Inspections are performed by trained Ontario Early Years staff members once a month. Parents are encouraged to bring their child with them. If this is not possible, please know your child’s weight and height and have your car seat manual.
